  • Jobs

So my first interview in a year is next Tuesday. It's with a bank in their IT department. Salary is GOOD, benefits are ok (not a lot of paid holidays - day after thanksgiving, Christmas eve, and NYE are excluded).

My hope with this current search was to get in with a company on this list
    http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/best-companies/2012/states/CA.html

So I'm debating on going through with the interview process. Is changing sectors a bad move?

And banking seems further away from my lifelong goal of having my name in the credits of a major movie! Speaking of movies, saw the new Die Hard last night. It was on par with the last few ones =)

  • Flowers?

    An exaggerated example...

A guy brings home flowers to his wife every day. She places them around the house but turns out she's allergic. And instead of telling her husband she's allergic, she accepts it as a nice gesture. He continues to bring a bouquet every day to her because she smiles when she gets them and he knows that most people like getting flowers.

Soon she's surrounded by flowers that are making her sick and unhappy inside and soon it shows on the outward side. The husband is left wondering what's wrong because she's unhappy. Is this a case of him not 'knowing' her? Of him not figuring it out from other (non verbal) signs (stuffy nose, sneezing)?

Question is who's fault is that? His for not knowing, or hers for not telling? And should she have told him right away that she was allergic or should she wait and hope he "knows' her and can figure out from non-verbal cues?

  • Flat foot running

Was running yesterday on the beach to practice not pushing off with my toes. That provided me with what it feels like to run more flat foot for today's 5 milers. About 1.5 mile left I checked in and though I had been doing well with hitting flat foot I still felt like I was pushing off so I leaned a little more and that helped. I also went faster without loosing my breath!

  • Worry list

    • possible infection near the surgery site - antibiotics started Friday night have not changed the status
    • running again after surgery and I still have some lower leg issues
    • stretching and ankle exercises have fallen to the wayside again
    • need a new job for more money - see previous post.
    • not feeling qualified for dream jobs of web development
    • not feeling I'm doing my part in my current "relationship"
    • what is up with this crazy sleep cycle?
    • my cat needs a trip to the specialist again so they can inject a steroid ($$, travel logistics)
  • Sleepless nights

I am having another sleepless night (it's 5 am right now).

Next time I will hold off on looking at jobs till its between 8am and 5 pm. Woke up thinking about work. I'm overwhelmed right now and concerned about some high profile projects. I was concerned at the beginning because there is clearly a single thread on the reasources for completing the project. And this single thread has a habit of going down the rabbit hole because they want to know everything that is going on with everything and if there is something that isnt right they have a hard time of making a note to fix later.

This project wil need serious project management, which means, I have to be available to focus my energy and attention which meansi have to delegate the little projects or complete them rapid fast.

I see a lot of overtime in my future which I'm not pleased with because they aren't paying me near enoug, hence the job hunt that started this all!

  • Chi running day after

The day after the calf tightness during running, my Achilles was achy in the morning until it loosened up. :( hiked and ran a trail (for the first time!) today. Stretched out my calfs/achilies many times today - hope it helps.

  • Chi running

This is what I'm working on right now. Need to work on one legged posture stance and pelvic position.

Today, I found myself moving to my toes (instead of flat foot) and my left calf complained. Though it was complaining last night too for some reason.

After all the calf and Achilles problems last year, I'm trying to be more mid/flat foot running rather than toe running (toe running was my attempt to no longer heel run). Chi running is all about a relaxed lower body (and upper, well, relaxed everything except lower core muscles) so I'm trying to see where tightness is and modifying based on chi readings and see what works.

  • Surgery

The surgery went well and was smoother than expected. I won't know the pathology report till next week but its out. There was definitely swelling of the area but its going down. Ice is once again my close friend.

Once the local wore off, it was pretty uncomfortable till the Aleve kicked in but that does just fine over the rx that has drowsiness as a side effect. Hope I can remember next time I have surgery to start some pain Meds before it starts to hurt.

Luv "took care" of me yesterday. It's difficult for me to ask for help. Would have liked to have taken advantage of the time together to make it quality time but couldn't figure out how to. :/

  • Sickness allowed

My office is full of sick people so as soon asi scheduled my surgery for the third time I started a heavy dose of echenasea.

Now that I've had my surgery I'm a little more ok with getting the sicknesses that are going around the office and even my fam that is spread across the US. They range from flu (fever with quick onset, to nasel crap and a two week cough).

Maybe, I will keep up the echenasea anyway...
